The Parish of St James' East Crompton was formed in 1845, and includes parts of Shaw, Brushes Clough Reservoir, Grains Bar, High Crompton, Ogden and Hollingworth Lake. This booklet is a compilation of dialect poems and sketches which refer to places and people and experiences within the Parish bounds. Ken Whitehead was born and brought up in Shoredge and is known as a local dialect writer. Mr Jack Carsberg is known as a local resident artist in Shaw. Introduction by Geoffrey Abbott, Churchwarden at East Crompton.
