The Figaro trilogy
Beaumarchais, Pierre Augustin Caron de, 1732-17992003
Book
All three 'Figaro' plays are collected in one volume in this new translation by David Coward. The plays were so threatening to the French establishment that Louis XIV banned them because he believed that the Bastille would have had to be pulled down before such plays could be staged.
