Becoming a member Membership of the library service is free to all residents of Oldham. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 13 years require a guarantor added to their account and permission from their parent or guardian.

Conditions of membership
Use your library card number and PIN to borrow items.
Books can be borrowed for three weeks at a time.
You may borrow up to twelve items on your card. These can be borrowed from and returned to any branch of Oldham Libraries.
Items may be renewed up to seven times at any branch or the online catalogue.
Staff are happy to renew items over the telephone during opening hours, please have your library card number on hand. If a reservation has been placed on an item you have on loan a renewal is not permitted.
Items may be returned at any Oldham Libraries branch.
Your membership may be suspended if you have overdue items and outstanding charges.
Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience.
A reservation service is available for those items which are on loan or available at another branch. You can place your own reservations for most items via the public access catalogues at our branches or through the Library Service online catalogue.
You must pay for lost or damaged items. Lost item charges (including membership card charges and books) are non-refundable.
If your personal details change, please update these via the online catalogue or notify us as soon as you can.
Please report lost cards to the library immediately. You will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.
